The new Ambassador / Head of the Delegation of the EU presents her credentials
The new Ambassador / Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, Mrs Angelina Eichhorst, presented today her credentials to the President of the Republic, H.E. General Michel Sleiman. Mrs Eichhorst said: « I am delighted to be in Lebanon. It is a great honour for me to serve as Ambassador to this wonderful country with which Europe has a deep and long-standing relationship. I look forward to meeting with, listening and talking to all our partners », she added.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton, designated Mrs Eichhorst as Ambassador / Head of Delegation to Lebanon in September 2010.
Mrs Eichhorst started her carrier at the European Commission in 1996 at the Directorate General for External Relations before she joined the Directorate General for Development in 1999. From 2004 to 2010, she successively was Head of Development and Regional Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan (2004-2008) and Head of Political and Economic Affairs, Press, Information and Culture at the Delegation of the European Union to Syria (2008-2010).
Mrs Angelina Eichhorst was born in 1965 in Wijlre (Netherlands). She studied Languages and Cultures of the Middle East at the Catholic University in Nijmegen, and Political Science at the Université Libre in Brussels. She holds special degrees in International Law, Human Rights and the Law of International Organisations. Mrs Eichhorst is married and has two children.
