UfM projects in the spotlight at Marseille investors’ forum

15 mai 2010

Financial institutions and private investors are invited to the Marseille Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 27 for the For’UM, a one-day meeting dedicated to the funding of projects under the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), organised by the Franco-Egyptian co-presidency of the UfM.

According to the For’UM website, the objective of the meeting is to present an assessment of the accomplishments of the UfM and encourage the business world to lend its support to concrete projects.   The meeting will be addressed by Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, and by Ahmad Masadeh, Secretary General of the UfM.

Philippe de Fontaine Vive, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank in charge of FEMIP, will head the first discussion session on the subject of the region’s economic potential.   The day will be structured around three discussion sessions dedicated to investment and project financing conditions in the Mediterranean. Several investment sessions will be organised to focus on the projects. The themes tackled will be Energy, Transport and Urban Development, Water and Environment, SME Economic Development, and Human and Social Development.

For’UM will provide an opportunity to examine the cohesion of the financing of future Union for the Mediterranean projects, and will allow investors to learn about the opportunities currently available to them.
