The EU-funded Anna Lindh Foundation for Dialogue between Cultures has published a newsletter containing comprehensive information about the forum it is organising in Barcelona, Spain from 4 to 7 March 2010. The four-page publication, issued in English, French and Arabic, includes the event’s call for participation to be closed on 15 December 2009. It also contains news and information about the meeting to be held in preparation of the forum i.e. the youth forum to be held from 25 to 28 January 2010 in Strasbourg and a meeting on “Cities, migrants and diversity” to take place in Munich between 10 and 13 February 2010. The newsletter also explains that the 2010 Forum is built on two key pillars: the ‘Agora’, dedicated to plenary debates and workshops with experts on the achievements and challenges of social and cultural cooperation in the framework of the Union of the Mediterranean; and the ‘Medina’ which aims to bring together members of the Anna Lindh networks and regional partners in order to show good practices, share ideas build new partnerships and initiatives. The Forum, expected to gather around 500 representatives of civil society organisations as well as high-profile speakers from the political, cultural and economic field from the Union for the Mediterranean, aims to give new momentum to the cooperation among civil society organisations committed to intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean region and to enrich the activities of the 43 National Networks of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
The Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures is a €7 million EU-funded project which aims at bringing people and organisations of the region closer and promoting dialogue, by offering them opportunities to work together on projects in the fields of culture, education, science, human rights, sustainable development, the empowerment of women and the arts. The Foundation is the first institution to be jointly created and co-financed by all member countries of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. (ENPI Info Centre)
