Joint Media initiative launched
The joint media initiative ‘Tahqiq Sahafi’ was officially launched at a regional event involving editors and young journalists from Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Malta and France.
‘Tahqiq Sahafi’, which aims to produce new journalistic pieces on the theme of youth in the Mediterranean, is an initiative of the independent media Babel Med and is supported by the René Seydoux Foundation and the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation.
Speaking at the launch event, Paul Walton, Communication Manager of the Anna Lindh Foundation said: “The media plays a central role in shaping the mutual perceptions across the two shores of the Mediterranean, and initiatives such as ‘Tahqiq Sahafi’ are essential in terms of bringing together journalists who can reach the people at large and effectively communicate the complexities and issues related to the region’s cultural diversity.”
The first series of articles will trace, from a comparative perspective, the portrait of young people of 20 to 30 years old in Europe and in the Mediterranean, and will be published on babelmed.net and partner websites.
