More than 140 companies apply to Invest in Med projects

3 décembre 2009

Thirty-six initiatives, gathering more than 140 business organisations eager to develop Euro-Med business projects, have been submitted in the 3rd Invest in Med request for initiatives closed on November 18, according to the newsletter of the EU funded-project Invest in Med.   The lead article of the November 2009 newsletter, Invest in Med Biz Board, said 22 countries were involved in the initiatives implemented under the project, the projects leaders of which are equally spread between Europe and Mediterranean Partner Countries.

The main sectors targeted are energy efficiency and renewable energy, SME access to finance, distribution & logistics, health, drugs and cosmetics. Around 10 projects will be selected in January 2010.

The newsletter also contains useful information and news about ongoing projects, business opportunities and business environments in the Partner Countries, as well as a list of recent investments and an agenda of events in the Southern Mediterranean countries.   Invest in Med is a Euro-Mediterranean Network of organizations, funded by the EU with a budget of €9 million, committed to investment promotion and trade facilitation, strengthening SME collaboration and exchange of best-practices. It aims to increase the abilities and efficiency of Mediterranean Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs), thus enabling more foreign direct investment in the Mediterranean Partner Countries. This multi-country platform supports the economic development of the Mediterranean and reinforces cooperation between European and Mediterranean IPAs.
